A full gut renovation and extension of an 1870s Federal-style townhouse, this project reclaims the architectural integrity of the structure. The remodel restores the original structure — carefully reintroducing antique heart pine floors, hand-drawn plaster moldings, shutter pockets, and six fireplaces — while inserting contemporary elements that are equally deliberate. A custom kitchen centers on a working table composed of salvaged Coney Island boardwalk material, industrial steel, and reclaimed marble.
Developed in close collaboration with a range of craftspeople, the project treats making as a form of authorship where history and construction become inseparable. The result is a townhouse defined by material depth, precision, and a quiet but unmistakable sense of luxury.
